Differences in Acute vs. Chronic Suicidal Ideation
Stacey Freedenthal, PhD, LCSW, is a psychotherapist, educator, and consultant. As an associate professor at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work, she teaches courses on mental health diagnosis, cognitive behavioral therapies, clinical social work practice, and suicide assessment and intervention. Dr. Freedenthal maintains a small psychotherapy and consulting practice, where she focuses on helping individuals who experience suicidal thoughts or behavior, and individuals who have lost a loved one to suicide. She created and maintains the website www.speakingofsuicide.com. Her book in progress, Helping the Suicidal Person: Tips and Techniques for Professionals, is expected to be published later in 2017 by Routledge.
